HOW TO VERIFY ANY AUDITOR
How to verify any auditor
A certificate is only as valuable as the body that issued it. First-time buyers often pay for certificates that are not accredited by recognized bodies, rendering them useless in enterprise procurement.
FOR SOC 2:
- Ensure the firm is a licensed CPA firm in their jurisdiction.
- Check the AICPA public peer review file to ensure they have passed their most recent peer review.
FOR ISO CERTIFICATES:
- The certificate must name the Certification Body (e.g., SIS Certifications).
- The certificate must display the mark of an Accreditation Body (e.g., IAS, UAF) that is a member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).
- You can look up the Certification Body's number directly on the Accreditation Body's public directory to verify they are approved for that specific standard.
